Sample Wine List
Please take a look at this extract from our Wine List and tasting notes. The following wines are a selection from our Restaurant Wine list, we feature a good selection of new and old world wines with an emphasis on consistency and quality. Several wines are available by the glass and we also feature a selection of half bottles.
Our house wine starts at £15.50 per bottle.
White Wines
- Sauvignon Blanc Domaine La Prade 2006. Vin de pays des cotes de Thongues, France – A fresh, well rounded wine with lovely gooseberry flavours and a clean dry finish.
- Pinot Grigio Dolomiti 2006. Terre Del Noce, Italy. Becoming increasingly popular. Dry with fragrant floral notes, subtle fruit and a fresh lively finish.
- Bulletin Place Chardonnay 2006. Evans Wine, South East Australia – A lovely wine with tropical fruit flavours of peach, mango and pineapple. Buttery and well rounded, with a soft finish.
- Chablis St Claire 2006. Domaine Jean Marc Brocard, France. Crisp and slightly steely Chardonnay. Classic winemaking for a classic wine.
- Kanu Sauvignon Blanc 2005. Stellenbosch, South Africa. Gently persistant gooseberries fruit and honeyed overtones are paired with tropical fruit flavours and a touch of spice.
- Beringer Fume Blanc 2005. Napa Valley, California. A rich blend of ripe fig, melon and grapefruit flavours with a generous shot of new oak. Delicious!
Champagne
- Champagne Deutz Brut Classic NV. A fine full–bodied award winning Grande Marque Champagne with a great bisquity character. A classy House Champagne.
Red Wines
- Ruitersvlei Pinotage 2005. Paarl, South Africa. South Africa’s own grape variety produces a sumptuous full flavoured spicy wine
- Angelo Nero D’Avola/Sangiovese 2005. Sicily, Italy. A very easy drinking wine. Soft well rounded plummy fruit with well balanced smooth tannins.
- Merlot Bodega Norton 2004. Mendoza, Argentina. A great wine from probably the best winery in Argentina, Fruity and velvety with sweet tannins.
- Whistling Duck Shiraz/Cabernet 2004. South East Australia. Smooth and full bodied with lovely berry flavours and soft spicy finish.
- Bulletin Place Shiraz 2003. Evans Wine, South East, Australia. A deliciously rich blend of spice and berry flavours, full bodied and ripe with hints of vanilla oak.
- Brouilly Domaine Combillaty 2005. Beaujolais, France. One of the finest Beaujolais “Cru”. Elegant with exuberant plum and red berry fruits.
- Fleurie La Madonne 2005. Beaujolais France. A top cru wine from a single Domaine, unique for its floral aromas of irises, roses and violets. Velvety smooth with peaches and blackcurrant flavours.
- Beringer Zinfadel 2004. California. A favourite wine of winemaker Ed Sbragia with its subtle tannins, cherry aromas and generous spicy taste.
Dessert Wines
And of course to finish a selection of Pudding Wines to complement the Puddings served at the Home of the Pudding Club
- Muscat de Frontignan 2004. Chateau de Stony, France. A famous wine from the Languedocs – Roussillon. Rich and floral on the finish.
- Santa Rita Gerwurztraminer Late Harvest. Chile 2005 50cl. A golden wine with bright, intense lemon–green notes, scents of citrus blossom and rose. Superbly balanced, crisp yet luxuriously rich with lingering sweetness.
- Brown Brothers Late Harvest Orange Muscat and Flora 2002. Flavours of citrus and stone fruit and a fresh crisp finish, ideal with any fruit based pudding.
